A notice by Tin Sz, the General of the

cause in the Canton Province.

Concerning rewards to be given as encouragement

to those who do their duty.

Whereas it is written "A man of great virtue

deserves an official position, a man of great merit a reward".

This is a motto for an imperial court who wishes to rid itself

of men of no use, and raise up those with ability.

Now, at this time, when 1, the General, begin

to raise up the flag of justice, brave men will assemble from all quarters like wind and clouds, and there must be rewards and punishment. Now I append at the end of this notice a list of rewards. I inform all officials, both Military and Civil, and the common people, that these offers of rewards are genuine, the promises therein given will be fulfilled. Everyone of you should exert yourselves and should distinguish yourselves with merit, with a view to obtaining these rewards. Do not disobey. Do not

neglect. A special notice.
